Greeting by the Dean

Dear students, parents and colleagues,

It is a common assumption that sport in its broader sense, which includes both competitive and amateur sport, but also tourism and entertainment, is a rapidly growing industry with a significant economic and social impact. The professional approach to the sports industry creates the need for professionals and specialists in sports management, who are expected to deal with various business aspects of sport and leisure.

The Department of Sport Organisation and Management of the University of Peloponnese provides the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to students in the field of sport economics and management. It is staffed with distinguished members of the teaching and laboratory staff, as well as research assistants, in order to adequately support the education and training processes of students, combining theoretical knowledge with its practical application in modern sports facilities. At the same time, it enables students to organize and attend sports events, scientific conferences and to participate in the activities of the Research Laboratories that operate within the Department.

The aim of the Department is to train leaders who will work in many different sectors of the sports industry, providing them with flexible and quality education. In addition to the Undergraduate Program, our Department offers Postgraduate & Doctoral Programs in modern and competitive directions of sport management. In addition, our students have the opportunity to move to study at leading Universities abroad, with which our Department cooperates and which provide full recognition for the duration of their studies. It should be noted that our Department has already been accredited for the quality of its undergraduate curriculum by the National Authority for Higher Education (NEA).

Through its curriculum, the Department of Sports Organization and Management aspires to produce trained professionals in the most important areas of the modern sports market, such as the organization and management of sports organizations, sports marketing, sports law, sports economics, sports finance, organization of sports events, sports infrastructure management, sponsorship, sports tourism and sports recreation management, sports administration for disabled people. In the Department of Sports Organisation and Management we continue to work with all our strengths according to our objectives, having a clear knowledge of the needs of the sports market.

Yours sincerely,
